San Felipe (Agenzia Fides) – The Pastoral Council of the Diocese of San Felipe (Valparaíso, Chile), chaired by the Bishop, Mgr. Gonzalo Bravo Álvarez, informed of the appointment of Sister Nelly León, as “Episcopal Delegate for the General Pastoral”, in order to continue the process of pastoral renewal that the diocese is experiencing.

In the statement sent to Fides it is added that Sister Nelly León, a religious of the Congregation of the Good Shepherd, chaplain at the Women’s Penitentiary Centre San Joaquín (Santiago) since 2005, has also worked in the prison of Valparaíso and in the houses of Sename. For the past two years he has been living in the city of San Felipe, in his congregation’s spirituality centre.

The diocesan Bishop, Monsignor Gonzalo Bravo, thanked the priest Vicente Montenegro Lazo for his service over the years, promoting the elaboration of the Pastoral Guidelines for the years 2018-2022 and the process of discernment and ecclesial renewal of this last period. “The service that Sister Nelly will perform in the diocesan Church, will be to coordinate the work that is being developed by the different episcopal delegations, and that will allow to promote spaces so that everyone can put their talents and skills at the service of the Kingdom of God in the various pastoral contexts,” informs the statement.
