LIV WORLD DAY OF PEACE 2021

“THE CULTURE OF CARE AS A PATH TO PEACE”

TOGETHER WITH POPE FRANCIS
TO ADDRESS THE EVENTS
THAT HAVE MARKED MANKIND’S
JOURNEY IN THE PAST YEAR:
“Advancing humanity on the path of
fraternity, justice and peace among persons, communities, peoples and states.”

STRONG POINTS
FOR A PEACE-ORIENTED 'GRAMMAR' OF CARE
based on the Social Doctrine of the Church

to eradicate the culture of indifference, discard and confrontation, which is often prevalent today.
...teach us the importance of caring for one another and for creation, in order to build a society based on relationships of brotherhood:
* Care as promotion of the dignity and rights of the person.
* Care for the common good.
* Care through solidarity.
* Care and safeguarding of creation.
* Educating to the culture of care.
* The compass for a common course.

From the heritage of the human and social sciences we draw a distinction between two ways of being-together-taking-care
with which we are confronted daily in the community and in the apostolate:

- "the one in which the one who cares
risks substituting for the others by interfering in their place (dominating)
-that in which the one who cares
looks to others, leaving them free for their own care (liberating)".
