FEAST DAY OF SAINT JOHN EUDES

FEAST DAY OF SAINT JOHN EUDES

Let us be touched by moral misery, material poverty, the suffering of victims of injustice and the sick abandoned to their fate.

Supported by the three days of prayer and reflection, we share an extract from the texts prepared by the Eudist Fathers of the Palermo Community:

THE DIVINE HEART OF JESUS

For St John Eudes, the Hearts of Jesus and Mary are both a source of human dignity and above all a symbol of God’s unceasing love. We have three hearts to adore in our Saviour. They form one heart.
The first is his divine heart which he has had from all eternity in the adorable bosom of his Father. This heart forms one heart with the heart and love of his Father, and with it is the beginning of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when he gave us the gift of his core, he also gave us the heart of his Father and of his adorable Spirit.
The second is his spiritual heart, the upper part of his soul, where the Holy Spirit lives and reigns and where he contains the treasures of his divine wisdom.
The third is his corporeal heart, hypostatically linked to the person of the Word. Formed from the virgin blood of his Holy Mother, which was pierced on the cross by the blow of the lance.

“Adorable Jesus,
you have given us your Heart,
beginning and source of all graces,
to make it our heart.
Spirit of that Heart, you came forth from the bosom of the Father
and came to earth to shower us with your graces.
It is your Heart,
humanly divine and divinely human,
that has redeemed us by enduring pain and anguish
during your earthly life.
Thank you, beloved Redeemer.
Grant that we may know how to correspond
with love to your divine love. Amen.”
