World Migrant and Refugee Day
All of us, we are migrants on this earth.
But Italian and European policy kills any hope of a future and dignity for migrants
In his message for the 110th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis reminds us that all of us, the people of God, are migrants on this earth, on our way to the “true homeland”, the Kingdom of Heaven. Migrants are a contemporary icon of this people on a journey, of the Church on a journey and, at the same time, it is precisely in them and in all our vulnerable brothers and sisters that we can encounter the Lord walking with us.
‘Walking together with the most vulnerable and with Jesus’
WE FIGHT RAMPANT SELFISHNESS
WE SHARE THE ‘WAY’ OF POPE FRANCIS:
It is not through more restrictive laws, it is not through militarisation of borders, it is not through rejections that we will avoid deadly seas and deserts…BUT
- By expanding safe and regular access routes.
- By promoting by all means a global governance of migration based on justice, fraternity and solidarity.
- By joining forces to combat human trafficking, to stop the criminal traffickers who mercilessly exploit the misery of others.
