World Creation Day

World Creation Day

A Jubilee for the Earth until 04 October

During the Time of Creation, from 1 September to 4 October, thousands of Christians from six continents will come together for a time of refreshment and hope to discover radical new ways of living with creation.

Today we are living in a changing era that calls us to a transition that profoundly transforms our lives, in order to achieve the ecological conversion to which the sixth chapter of Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato si’ invites us.

Our concern is to initiate processes and not to occupy space or to stop and regret a past full of contradictions and injustices.

We are committed to accompanying and encouraging the necessary changes, from our contemplative view of creation to our daily life choices.

Ecological transition is “both social and economic, cultural and institutional, individual and collective” (Instrumentum Laboris, n. 27), but also ecumenical and interreligious.

Everyone must feel involved in a common project, because we feel that the idea that society can improve through the exclusive pursuit of individual or group interest is a failure.

Promoting “a resilient and sustainable society where economic value creation and job creation are pursued through policies and strategies that are mindful of exposure to environmental and health risks” (IL, n. 26) means striving for an “ecological transition” that is, at the same time, a “just transition” that paves the way for “transformative resilience” (IL, n. 39).
