The Congregation disseminates the protection of the rights of minors and vulnerable persons in care

Whoever welcomes one of these children in my name welcomes me; whoever receives me does not receive me, but he who sent me.

Mark 9:37

The mission of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd
is to promote the dignity and integral development of every person

Over the course of almost four centuries, the Congregation has established ministries for the
protection, care and empowerment of girls, women and children confronted with
situations of violence, discrimination, poverty and other forms of social exclusion and
personal vulnerability..

Inspired by God’s mercy and love, the congregation has implemented the
most advanced knowledge from every historical era to realise these ministries, finding
effective and creative ways of supporting the value of the human person in social contexts
very different social contexts. Human dignity, spiritual reconciliation and the human rights
inherent human rights of every member of the human family have always been at the core of our
communities and ministries.”
(Excerpt from Congregation Leader’s Message – Child Protection Policy, September)

This policy, authorised and disseminated by the Congregational Leadership Team, formed the basis of the intensive implementation programme carried out by the Congregational Safeguarding Team in various countries in the year 2022, as reported in the Safeguarding Information Bulletin, No. 2, May 2023
