The Italy-Malta Unit also participates in the UN CSW Forum

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the UN Economic and Social Council is the only UN body whose members meet annually to discuss exclusively gender equality and women’s empowerment in the presence of civil society representatives. 

At their annual meetings, states adopt agreed conclusions that include an analysis of the priority theme and a set of concrete recommendations for governments, intergovernmental bodies and other relevant institutions, civil society actors and other stakeholders to implement at the international, national, regional and local levels.

Priority theme 2021: “Full and effective participation of women in decision-making in the public sphere, elimination of violence, achievement of gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls”.
